Please join former Kansas State and Kansas City Chiefs standout Kevin Lockett and many other celebrities at a fundraiser for “Read & Achieve,” the Lock-ett Up Foundation’s literacy program for middle school students in Kansas City, MO. The Lockett-Up Foundation has partnered with Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance to create the Liberty Mutual Invitational benefiting the Lockett-Up Foundation.??The Liberty Mutual Invitational benefiting the Lockett-Up Foundation is a four- player scramble at one of Kansas City’s premier courses, the Deuce at the National, on August 19. All players will be treated to a pairings party at the Negro League Baseball Museum on August 18, 2013. On tournament day, each participant will reeive great golf, a box lunch, dinner and a tee package of gifts.??Kevin established the Lockett-Up Foundation in 1998. Its mission is to increase academic achievements for at-risk and disadvantaged youth, including providing basic reading skills and computer training to those young people. Rea&Achieve programs work to enhance public school curriculum; programs are under way in Manhattan, KS., Tulsa, OK, and Kansas City, MO. The 7th Annual Liberty Mutual Invitational benefiting the Lockett-UP
Foundation was held at the Deuce at the National in Missouri on a beautiful 74
degree August day. Celebrities such as Deron Cherry, Bud Stallworth, Derrick
Alexander, and Shawn Barber showed their support by joining more than 130
golfers who participated in the event. The day was highlighted by Ken Nelkin
who hit a hole-in-one on the 175 yard par 3 6th hole to win a set of NIKE
irons. REMAX Long-drive finalist Mic Yelovich helped raise more than $4,000
by hitting 400+ yard drives on the 8th hole. More than $12,000 was raised to

The 6th Annual Liberty Mutual Invitational benefiting the Lockett-UP Foundation was held at the prestigious Deuce at the National in Missouri on September 27. Celebrities such as Deron Cherry, Kimble Anders, Kolby Smith, Shawn Barber, Billy Baber, Derrick Alexander, and many others showed their support by joining more than 120 golfers to participate in the event. Sponsors such as the Kansas City Chiefs, SafeCo Insurance, Blue Valley Insurance, BraddaDesign, Office Depot, Kansas State Athletics, Flurry Hinderks Insurance, Foxx Equipment, and Straub Construction helped the event to raise more than $10,000 to support the Genesis Promise Academy reading program. To date, the Celebrity Golf Event has donated more than $40,000 to the Genesis Promise Academy.
2010
The Liberty Mutual Invitational benefiting the Lockett-Up Foundation
was held at the Deuce at the National in Missouri on a gorgeous 72 degree September day. More than
120 golfers showed their support by participating in the event. All players were treated to great golf,
lunch, dinner and a tee package of gifts from sponsors such as Liberty Mutual, Safeco Insurance,
TaylorMade, Adidas Golf, Polaroid and Sports Vision Eyewear. More than $10,000 was donated to the
Genesis Promise Academy in Kansas City, Mo to assist in the building of the first school library.
2009
The 4th Annual Kevin Lockett Celebrity Invitational was held at Staley Farms Golf Club in Missouri on a beautiful 74 degree September day. Staley Farm’s 18-hole championship golf course is one of the most remarkable new golf courses in the state of Missouri. More than 100 golfers from Kansas and Missouri participated in the event and $10,000 was raised for the Genesis School in Kansas City, Mo. The funds were utilized to provide 45 students the opportunity to complete a 36-week reading program.
2008
The 3rd Annual Kevin Lockett Celebrity Invitational was held at Loch Lloyd Country Club in Missouri. Loch Lloyd’s 18-hole championship golf course is one of the most renowned in the Midwest. Home to eight PGA Senior Tour events, the unique layout was both challenging and enjoyable for all levels. 96 golfers showed their support on a 64 degree day that netted $9,500 for the Genesis School in Kansas City, Mo. The funds were used to provide more than 40 students the opportunity to complete a 36-week reading program.
2007
The 2nd Annual Kevin Lockett Celebrity Invitational was held at Loch Lloyd Country Club in Missouri. Loch Lloyd’s 18-hole championship golf course is one of the most renowned in the Midwest. Home to eight PGA Senior Tour events, the unique layout was both challenging and enjoyable for all levels. Over 100 golfers attended and several gifts and prizes were given out. The tournament profited approximately $11,000 which gave over 50 Genesis School students the opportunity to complete a 36-week reading program in which the average was more than a 1.5 grade reading level jump per student!
